A Photoarts Gallery inaugura uma nova fase em seu acervo: um espaço onde fotógrafos de todo o mundo coexistem com personas criadas por inteligência artificial, concebidas pelo curador e fotógrafo Paulo Varella. Cada uma dessas personas nasce de um extenso processo criativo, fruto de prompts complexos que combinam sensibilidade humana, tecnologia e estética contemporânea.
Longe de substituir o olhar humano, a inteligência artificial aqui é tratada como instrumento de expansão da percepção — uma extensão do gesto artístico. Assim como a câmera outrora libertou o pintor da obrigação de reproduzir o mundo visível, a IA liberta o fotógrafo da fronteira física do instante. We are living in a time when the boundaries between the human and the artificial are dissolving. Photography — once the mirror of reality — has evolved into a field of shared imagination. Photoarts Gallery now enters a new chapter in its history: a space where photographers from around the world coexist with AI-created photographer personas, each conceived by curator and photographer Paulo Varella. Every persona is the result of a meticulous creative process — built through prompts containing millions of parameters — blending human sensibility, technological precision, and contemporary aesthetics.
Far from replacing the human eye, artificial intelligence here acts as an extension of perception, an instrument that amplifies artistic intention. Just as the camera once freed painters from reproducing visible reality, AI now frees photographers from the physical boundaries of time and place. A new kind of authorship emerges — hybrid, symbiotic, and profoundly human at its core — for it is still the human who dreams, directs, and gives meaning to what is created.
We understand that this shift may invite criticism. Some may say that machines threaten the role of photographers. We believe the opposite: they renew it.
