A Infância é uma obra da artista Carol Rahal.

“Acho que amadureci demais. Minha infância despencou diante de mim. E agora me vejo neste mundo que sou obrigada a aprender. Aprender ser gente. E gente grande! E a grandeza daquele meu pequeno universo? Aonde foi parar?”

O trabalho pertence ao ensaio autoral “Solus”, palavra do latim que significa “sozinho(a), estar só”.

“Trata-se de uma pesquisa fotográfica que reflete sobre a sensação do não pertencimento, as reflexões acerca da solidão e a busca da própria identidade, a partir da experiência autobiográfica sobre a minha questão homossexual na juventude, onde elementos simbólicos permeiam o universo inconsciente desta personagem que se vê numa jornada de resgate de si mesma imersa entre sonhos e pesadelos”.

“I think I’ve matured too much. My childhood has collapsed in front of me. And now I see myself in this world that I have to learn. Learn to be people. And great people! And the greatness of that little universe of mine? Where did it end up?”

The work belongs to the authorial essay “Solus”, a Latin word meaning “alone, to be alone”.

“This is a photographic research that reflects on the feeling of not belonging, the reflections about loneliness and the search for one’s own identity, based on the autobiographical experience about my homosexual issue in my youth, where symbolic elements permeate the unconscious universe of this character who finds himself on a journey to rescue himself immersed between dreams and nightmares”.
